Marvel TV Will Be More Important Than Marvel Movies In 2020

Ryan Reynolds reveals every cameo in Deadpool 2, including one you missed, and his second role

Did you know 2 A-list Hollywood stars (not Hugh Jackman) made cameos in Deadpool 2? Did you know that Ryan Reynolds played more than one character? Here are all the cameos you might have missed.

Spoilers for Deadpool 2 follow:-

Now that many of you have watched Deadpool 2, star Ryan Reynolds along with writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick have spoken about the film’s many celebrity cameos -- including one that everyone missed.

One collective cameo that most people spotted comes when Deadpool visits Professor X’s school. After complaining that the studio couldn’t afford more X-Men even in the sequel, an open door behind him reveals James McAvoy’s Professor X, Evan Peters’ Quicksilver, Alexadra Shipp’s Storm, Nicholas Hoult’s Beast, Tye Sheridan as Cyclops and Kodi Smit-McFee’s Nightcrawler. With an annoyed look on their face, they close the door, without Deadpool ever realising who’s behind him.

After assembling the X-Force with Weasel, Deadpool leads them to their first mission as a team, which requires them to parachute out of a moving plane. The trailers for Deadpool 2 had effectively sold the film’s introduction of the X-Force as a major event, but subversively, each of the new recruits -- except Domino -- dies hilariously as they descend towards the Earth. One of those characters is the Vanisher, who’s never seen on screen because he’s invisible. Even when he leaps out of the plane, all we see is his parachute. But as he touches down, the wind blows him into some electric cables, which is when he gets electrocuted and for a split second, reveals his face. And it’s Brad Pitt.

Actor Brad Pitt arrives at the premiere of the film Allied in Madrid

Speaking to Collider, Reynolds confirmed that it was indeed Pitt’s face that we saw. “Well, I can confirm that that is Brad Pitt,” he said. “I still don’t even know how we got him for the movie. I just wrote him a letter, and explained what it was we were doing. And the sort of premise behind it was how do we, what’s the most wasteful way to use the biggest movie star in the world? And it was through a character that is largely invisible and worthless throughout the movie. And then just having him show up for eight frames of footage. And I guess Brad found that funny, we all found that funny. And he said, yes. And the next thing you know he came and shot for about seven minutes. It took him longer to drink the coffee that he requested as payment.”
Reynolds said that Pitt’s appearance was never meant to be longer than it is. “That was the whole point of it, really,” he said, and continued, “he’s just such a gentleman, and such a funny, charming human being. And the biggest movie star on Earth. And that was pretty exciting for all of us.”
But while Pitt’s cameo, which lasted 8 frames -- one second is made up of 24 -- was somewhat easy to spot, there is one cameo that no one noticed. When the time travelling Cable arrives in Deadpool’s timeline, he comes across two men discussing bowel movements.
One of those men was played by Alan Tudyk, and the other was played by a heavily disguised Matt Damon. Writers Reese and Wernick elaborated on Damon’s cameo in an interview to Vulture. “You’ll have to put ‘spoiler alert’ on this,” said Wernick, “but that was Matt Damon as the redneck in the Cable introduction scene.” Reese added, “Nobody’s figured it out. Literally nobody’s figured it out. You’re not the only one. Not a single person has spotted him.”

The film also uses archive footage from X-Men Origins: Wolverine to revive the old Deadpool and Wolverine. This happens in the post-credits scene of the movie.
Another interesting fact revealed by the writers notes that the character Juggernaut was entirely created by CGI and was voiced by Reynolds himself.
Deadpool 2 opened to a massive $300 million plus in its first weekend of release, including an estimated Rs 33 crore in India. Fans lined up in droves to catch up with their favourite foul-mouthed superhero, and they weren’t disappointed. The film has received positive reviews and is expected to challenge the first Deadpool movie for the title of the biggest R-rated film of all time.
